KeePass2 on Windows 10 and Linux

KeePass2 on Windows 10 and Linux

I'm a long time keepass2 user; over 10 years now;

On my win10 laptop, get prompt that a new keepass2 version 2.37 is available; go to this URL and look around; downloaded both .exe installer and portable versions of the latest ver 2.37;
tried the portable version with my keepass2 db and it works exactly the same as the .exe installer version.

for linux, checked to see if it was in the repositories defined currently on my laptop;

$ apt-cache policy keepass2 -> shows ver 2.32+dfsg-1 version;

looking on packages.ubuntu.com shows keepass2_2.36+dfsg-1_all.deb;
$ sudo dpkg -i keepass2_2.36+dfsg-1_all.deb

attempts to install thru terminal cmds shows dependency problems preventing config of keepass2;

$ sudo dpkg -i keepass2_2.36+dfsg-1_all.deb
keepass2 depends on libmono-corlib4.5-cil (>= 4.6.1.3); however:
Version of libmono-corlib4.5-cil on system is 4.2.1.102+dfsg2-7ubuntu4.
and several other missing or not correct version;
same problem of dependencies not met using this cmdline:
$ sudo apt-get install keepass2

In synaptic package mgr, ver 2.32 is available but it also would install all of the mono... packages and I don't want to install all of the mono stuff so I will just use my win10 VM running un vmware workstation 14.
